U15 boys
Congrats to our U15 boys who were crowned county ‘A’ champions last Friday in Markievicz Park. On a terrible wet evening, the lads put in a tight team performance to grind out the win over a talented Enniscrone/Kilglass side. A good start saw us lead throughout the game, and a workman-like second half saw the game end 0-11 to 0-7 in our favour. Congratulations to team and management on a fantastic victory. A special mention must also go to our U15 ‘C’ side who were beaten after extra-time the night previous – our young side were 9 points behind at one stage and battled back to bring it to extra-time before ultimately falling just short. A brilliant year for the entire U15 panel.
U12 girls
A big well done to our U12 girls who were crowned Bronze Shield champions on Saturday last in Scarden! The girls put on an exhibition of football to run out winners 11-3 in what was a terrific team performance. Congratulations to all involved!
U14 girls
The very best of luck to our U14 girls team who are contesting the U14 ‘A’ Cup Final this Saturday in Scarden! Throw-in is at 3.45pm against CT Gaels, and all support is encouraged! Good luck!
Senior men
Our senior men have qualified for the senior football championship semi-finals as group winners with a game to spare. They got the better of Calry/St. Joseph’s last Sunday evening having led at half-time by 0-10 to 0-3. Playing uphill in the second half they kept the scoreboard ticking when it mattered and Ryan Feehily’s goal sealed the win after Calry/St. Joseph’s had come back into the game by way of a penalty. The game ended 1-14 to 1-11 and we now face Curry in our final group game at 3.30pm in Tubbercurry this Sunday.
Senior ladies
Our senior ladies had a great win over Eoghan Rua on a wet Sunday morning in Kent Park. Despite the conditions, the team put together some flashes of brilliance to hit sixteen scores and come out on top by 2 points. The game finished 1-15 to 2-10, and they face Eastern Harps this coming weekend at 10.30 in Keash.
Junior ladies
The junior ladies had a narrow defeat to St John’s in Cuilbeg last Saturday evening in an entertaining contest. The sides competed excellently however we eventually lost out 4-9 to 2-10. We still progress to a semi-final vs Drumcliffe/Rosses Point this coming Saturday evening in Kent Park. Best of luck!
Junior men
Our junior men’s teams have had contrasting fortunes with the season ending for our Junior ‘A’s’ but our Junior ‘B’s’ proceeding through to a county quarter-final. The Junior ‘A’s’ were defeated by St. Molaise Gaels in an entertaining goalfest – 4-13 to 2-14. Mark Breheny rolled back the years with 1-3. The Junior ‘B’s’ managed to scrape by Ballymote seconds thanks to a fine Aaron McGoldrick free to leave things 2-10 to 2-9. They now face Tubbercurry seconds on Friday evening in a quarter-final – best of luck!
