Minor boys
Congratulations to our minor boys team and management who were crowned U17 division 1 league champions last week! The boys came out on top by one point against a talented Drumcliffe/Rosses Point team who battled right to the end but were unable to convert a last minute free to take the game to extra time. St. Mary’s started brightly with Robert O’Kelly-Lynch and Dylan Streete dominating in the middle third, and Eli Rooney causing trouble up front. A goal from Ross Clifford appeared to give us a comfortable lead, however Drumcliffe/Rosses Point finished the first half strongly to ensure we had a tight second half to look forward to. James Cronin made some excellent saves to keep us in front. Clyde Regan and Stefan Roche marshalled the defence well after the break to clinch victory by the minimum margin, 2-9 to 2-8.
Team: James Cronin, Conor Golden, Stefan Roche, Ashraf Tumuheime, Patrick Brady, Clyde Regan, Oliver O’Riordan, Robert O’Kelly-Lynch, Dylan Streete, Patrick Murphy, Eli Rooney, Alex Dee, Matthew Mulholland, Shea O’Neill, Ross Clifford. Subs: Eoin Monaghan, Conor Murray, Jack Scanlon, Harry Cawley, Roghan O’Neill, Ronan Keily, Cathal Kelly, Adam Feeney, Logan Markey O’Neill, Carlos Menendez, Mark Tracey, Rory Connellan. Missing: Ronan O’Hehir, Ronan Niland, Connor Flynn
Junior ladies
Hard luck to our junior ladies team who were defeated by a strong St. Patrick’s team in the division 4 league final on Sunday morning. A wet morning made for difficult conditions but to their credit the ladies never gave in and battled hard throughout. The ladies junior squad is particularly young and in just our second season with two adult ladies teams it was amazing to see them reach a league final. Looking forward to championship.
All-Ireland tickets draw
Congratulations to Aiden Murphy who was the winner of two All-Ireland Final tickets and a night in The Mespil Hotel in our club fundraising draw last week. The draw proved to be a huge success and we thank everyone who contributed and supported it. A special word of thanks must go to Club Treasurer Conor Conway who organised the draw and ensured it ran smoothly throughout.
