New Sensory Space For Kids With Additional Needs

We were delighted to launch our new sensory space for younger players and members with additional needs. The new sensory ‘hub’ is a  pop-up blackout space filled with lots of calming Sensory lights and toys to support children to help them self regulate when they are feeling overwhelmed and need some time. The idea is to provide a safe space for any child that’s discreet and respectful of their needs. Listen to Maggie Heylin and Marcella McGarry discuss it on Ocean FM recently: https://www.oceanfm.ie/2022/07/03/st-marys-gaa-club-open-new-sensory-space/?fbclid=IwAR0Nfm3-Dpljdmk1g93zDx5ElSt3GmXqxj9hIlPlDFNGykFpRHySxwK7sTI

Senior men

Our senior men played out an entertaining draw against Coolera/Strandhill on Sunday in Ransboro. Play with the aid of the breeze in the first half we led by 0-7 to 0-4 at the break in a free-flowing game of football. An early second half goal brought the hosts back on level terms and the teams traded scores for much of the second half from there on. Fantastic late scores from Nathan Rooney and Cian Breheny saw St. Mary’s go ahead in injury time, however Ross O’Carroll managed to find a leveller with the last kick of the game. Next up we host Calry/St. Joseph’s next Friday evening in Kent Park at 8pm.

Junior men

Hard luck to our junior men who were defeated on Friday evening. A strong St. Michael’s team got the better of us 2-14 to 1-10. We host St. John’s next weekend at 7pm on Saturday evening.

Junior ladies

The junior ladies played St Johns on Saturday evening in Cuilbeg. The away team finished the first half strongly and went in at the break up 2-8  to 0-0. The 2nd half was more even but the girls won on a scoreline of 5-10 to 0-3. There were adult debuts for Ashlee McTighe and Aimée Smyth, congratulations to them both.
