On behalf of all in St. Mary’s we would like to pass our condolences to the Carroll Family on the passing of Mary Carroll’s mother Peggy McLaughlin of Westport, Co. Mayo. Mary served as club secretary for a number of years, while Tommy and her sons Tomas, Donal and Conor all represented the club with distinction as players and officers over the years.
We also send our condolences to the Curley Family, Rosehill , Sligo on the passing of Michael Curley. Michael was heavily involved in the Community Games at a local and National level and his son Paul played for the club and served as club PRO and club secretary for a number of years.
Return to play
As per government announcements last week, underage training will be permitted to return at the end of April. From Monday 26th April, non-contact underage GAA training will be permitted in pods of 15 players. We look forward to welcoming back our underage teams. Coaches will be in touch in the coming weeks with regard to training and registration.
Online events
We would like to thank Emma Brennan and Shane Martin for running two online events with us in March. Emma conducted a webinar on nutrition, and Shane spoke brilliantly around mental health. Both events were fantastic. Keep an eye on our social media for more upcoming events.
Glory Days podcast
On Easter Sunday, we featured on the Ocean FM ‘Glory Days’ podcast. The episode featured our 1977 team who were the first Sligo club team to win a Connacht Championship. There were interviews with some legends of the team and great insights to their success. We have uploaded the episode to our website in case you missed it, or it can also be found on podcast streaming platforms, such as spotify, by searching for Ocean FM.
Video library
We have also updated our website to include a video library of some of our county final victories. The 2017 ladies intermediate final victory, and our men’s senior victories in 1996, 2001 and 2015 can all be watched on the site now.
