Junior ladies

The junior ladies were up against St Nathys in the Junior B final in Keash on Saturday. They were up against more experienced opponents, who led  by 3-08 to 1-06 at the break. The girls  never gave up and battled to the end but couldn’t reduce the deficit and lost out on a scoreline of 4-12  to 2-09. This is a young junior squad and getting to the championship final in their first season was a great achievement. Well done to all the girls for a great effort this campaign. This was the first year in which we were able to field two adult ladies teams, which is a testament to all the work done by club volunteers and shows how quickly the ladies division of the club is growing.

Senior men’s management

We are delighted to announce that Mark Breheny will be our senior men’s team manager for 2022. Mark is one of St. Mary’s and Sligo’s longest-serving and most popular footballers ever. He has management and coaching experience with our underage teams, Summerhill College, and most recently the Sligo senior men’s team. He will finalise his coaching ticket in the coming weeks. Please join us in wishing Mark the very best of luck.

We would also like to thank Aidan Rooney and his management team for his work with the senior team over the last three years. Aidan has dedicated enormous time to the club and continues to do so at underage level.

U17 boys

Hard luck to our U17 boys who were defeated by Shamrock Gaels on Sunday evening in the championship semi final. A pulsating contest finished level 3-14 apiece after extra-time, so the game had to be decided by penalty kicks. As the darkness loomed our season also came to an end as we were defeated 3-0 after three penalties each. Hard luck to team and management, and thanks for your efforts all year.

Club Gym

Our club gym has undergone renovations over the last few months and has been fitted out with new decor and equipment. A huge thanks goes out to Neil Smyth, John Clifford, David Keane and Gary O’Hehir for all their work on this project. It is a great addition to our facilities.

Club gear

As the winter kicks in you can still purchase club gear to keep you warm from John Kent Sports. John has a new stock of warm St. Mary’s hats just in the door, as well as a range of other items. Check out the full selection here.
